Marinara Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup of dried mushrooms
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
- Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20-30 minutes, until the sauce has thickened to your desired consistency.
- Use an immersion blender to puree the sauce to a smooth consistency, or leave it chunky if you prefer.
- Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.
Serve the marinara sauce over pasta, pizza, or any dish of your choice.
